A valid Canadian Passport, good for at least six months longer than the intended length of stay in your destination, is recommended for travel in other countries. A passport requires the completion of an Application Form (available at any postal outlet). Children under 16 can have their own passport, or simply can be included in one parent's passport. Children travelling alone, or with a parent who does not have them listed in his/her passport, will require a Canadian Passport to many countries. Check with us for details. Once an Application has been completed, you will need to enclose a birth certificate (photocopies are not permitted), Citizenship Papers or Citizenship Card (if applicable), 2 passport sized photographs (available at almost any camera store or photographer), and the signatures of 2 Guarantors. Once an application and enclosures are completed, it takes five business days for processing, not including any courier or postage time. It is recommended strongly that you visit in person if possible. While a designated person can pick up your completed passport, you MUST be present to obtain one.
