Birth Certificates and Photo Ids are the minimum requirement for travel to many countries that have special arrangements for Canadians and Americans. It is imperative that the birth certificate is not a photocopy, but an original official document. Photo ID must be either a driver’s licence, a recently expired Canadian passport, a Government Health Card, or an official Age of Majority Card. Children do not require photo ID when travelling with their parents. Canadian Citizenship Cards will satisfy both requirements of proof of citizenship and photo ID at the same time. Citizenship papers (no photocopies) will need to be supported by a photo ID. If you cannot find your Birth Certificate or Citizenship card, you'll need to contact the appropriate Government bodies. As there can be waiting periods involved, we recommend that you make these arrangements as soon as possible, as cancellation for this reason is not covered by insurance policies.
