Children's Programs.
Most mass-market cruise lines on mega-ships offer excellent kids programs. The kids' centre is staffed by qualified child-care experts, and normally has toys, games, puzzles, computers, books, and video games. Children are divided into age groups starting from as low as two or three years old, all the way up to teenagers. Activities are planned throughout the day for each age group in various parts of the ship. Oftentimes, public rooms not normally in use by adult guests at certain time periods have kids activities going on. For example, the disco may be closed to guests, but the teens are having a planned party at that time, or there may be a rehearsal for a talent show going on in the showroom. Children of a certain age are allowed to sign themselves in and out of the kids program at their desire, so if the activities are not of interest, they can always simply go to their cabin for movies, or head for the swimming pool. Younger children must be signed in and out by their parents. Babysitting is also available at a cost beyond the hours of the children's program hours. Children are normally dining with their parents, and the kids program typically closes during meal hours, although this varies between cruise lines. |
