Oosterdam
- This "vista" class ship is significantly larger than any other Holland America ship. It holds 1848 passengers and at first is difficult to find you way around. The ship has a much younger clientele offering a teen center and a much larger Club HAL. There is no children's pool and as such difficult to find a deck chair on days at sea. n find a Club HAL.
The show lounge is spectacular and the stage is large with an orchestra pit. There were lots of special effects, professional lighting and beautiful, creative costumes designed by Bill Blass. The dance productions featured 14 dancers and 4 lead singers.
- The food and service is exceptional. The specialty restaurant, The Odyssey, is was well worth the service charge - it features a 1,600 degree grill and you get to pick your meat from a 22 ounce porterhouse, rib eye, a filet and a petite filet, as well as lambchops. There is also a seafood choice.
Capuccino and cookies were always free in the Java Cafe. The Windstar Cafe serves these specialty items for a nominal charge.
- A beautiful ship catering more to the baby boomers. Some of the ship's decor is bright and flashy with lots of orange, fuscia, purple and royal blue - all tastefully done. Overall a great new big ship catering to a younger generation.
