Costa Crociere (parent company of Costa Cruises) was founded in 1860. Costa specializes in cruises for Europeans (or passengers with European tastes), and particularly Italians (during the summer European season). Costa has undertaken an aggressive new build policy in recent years, in an effort to appeal more to the North American market.
