Air Transat has cheap flights to Frankfurt from the Canadian market during the summer months. Quite often, last minute charter airfare to Munich is much more reasonably priced than scheduled options with connections. There are weekly charter flights from Toronto to Munich, and from Vancouver and Calgary. The trick to saving money on flights to Munich is to be flexible enough with your dates to take advantage of Air Transat’s excellent prices. Many people traveling to Switzerland and Northern Italy use Munich as a base, because car rentals are much cheaper in Germany. If you’re renting a car anyway, you may consider the more numerous flights to Frankfurt, but it is a good four hour drive.
